Default using Ink (in-slideshow drawing) when in windowed mode

In full-screen slideshow mode, Powerpoint has the wonderful feature to draw on the screen with Pointer Options Felt tip and Highlighter.
Especially useful if you have a touchscreen or drawing tablet.

Unfortunately, this feature is not availabel when running your powerpoint in windowed mode through a 'set-up your slideshow' config.

I really need to run my PPT windowed, but need drawing tools as well.

Any suggestions?

Default

and one more related thing:
The 'W' and 'B' keys I'm used to call up a white, respectively black, screen on top of the current showing slide also refuse to work in windowed mode.
Any advice on a workaround would be appreciated.
