Default Object set to invisible yet I can still move its (invisible) animation paths??

I made some objects invisible to make it easier to work on my slide and the various animations. However, while working, I noticed I'd moved some invisible objects - I can select them by randomly clicking about and I know they're selected because their handles appear. I really wish Adobe made a presentation program!
