Default Text and transparency

I cannot find a solution to the following problem. I use PowerPoint 2007

Using a shape filled with a colour and putting it to 20% transparency, write some text and go to presentation view. If the "Use hardware graphics acceleration" is ticked then the text looks awful.

The only way I have found to correct this problem is
  1. remove the transparency (spoils the effect wanted)
  2. untick "Use hardware graphics acceleration" (videos do not play as well neither do animations)

I would rather find another way thus keeping the transparency and the graphics acceleration.

Does anybody have any ideas?

thanks
