I am trying to copy a slide from one presentation to another. When I do this all the text boxes copy over but the background and other graphics will not. Is there something I need to change before copying? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Home tab, click on new slide and then reuse slide. A dialog box will open on the right side of your screen that will let you open a ppt show and will show all the slides. At the bottom is the option to "keep source formatting". Click on the slide you want and voila.
