Default Have Powerpoint dynamically update from an excel or other file?

Hey everyone

I use powerpoint in my office to play a looping slide show on a large TV for my sales reps. It has charts and shows sales figures and so on. The problem is I have to stop the presentation every morning, remote desktop into the system, edit each slide and re-run the show.

Is there any way to have that data in an external file like Excel, that I could save on the server and just update daily with the sales figures? I'm guessing if it's possible, that Powerpoint wouldn't just load new data while the show is in use, but that wouldn't be the end of the world. I could just have a macro coded so when I press a certain keyboard combo, it stops the presentation and refreshes it. The biggest thing is getting those figures somehow. Is there any ideas?

Select the data in Excel and copy it. Click on the PowerPoint slide and use the Paste drop-down to choose paste special then click Paste Link. Do the same for charts... copy and Paste special > paste link.

Thanks that works great! Really appreciate it.

For anyone else that finds this, I found this program here http://skp.mvps.org/updtlinks.htm

It's a free add in that works in all Powerpoints, it automatically refreshes the data every time the presentation loops which is great. Now I can keep the show looping and update the data at any time!
