I'm using PP on a Win11 laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad X1), casting the display to another PC using Wireless Display.




Using a duplicate remote display and slide show setting in PP, I get the full slide on the remote display and the presenter view with notes on the laptop. I can move through the slides with the laptop. Great. Except that the mouse pointer shows only on the remote PC and not on the laptop.



I need the pointer to display simultaneously on both screens so that I can place it accurately to point out small details. I don't always have a clear view of the remote screen so I need it to show simultaneously on the laptop while reading the notes. Is this a limitation of the system, or have I set something wrong?



Using an extended display from the laptop, the mouse will display on one screen or the other, depending on which screen is under the mouse.


This happens the same with two different remote Win11 PCs.
It also happens the same if I use a smart TV as the wireless remote instead of a PC.


I'd very much appreciate some advice on this.

So it looks like this is a 'feature' that isn't going away.

Ok its not an ideal solution but it is something. You need to create a pointer that you can drag around. This is basically a shape. You dont want to try and drag a small shape around though because the remote display will not update until you let go of the mouse button after moving the shape so you want to be able to easily move it and such. Here is my suggestion.
Create a big rectangle. remove the outline and set the transparency to 99% dont do 100 or you wont be able to click on it without getting the border.
Put a mouse pointer icon on the top of it. You can use an Icon in Powerpoint (search pointer to find a black one) If you want it white change the color. put this pointer over the rectangle and group both together. Now when you move this big group around your audience sees the mouse pointer.
Since groups can be a little finicky with sub selections you may also consider converting this pointer to an image by copy > paste special > and png.

This "pointer" would need to be copy and pasted on each slide of you presentation.
Not the greatest solution but it is a work around.

You could also just duplicate your display and set the slideshow as browsed by individual. This might suit your needs as well.

Sorry for being a bit slow on this, but after plodding around all the menu options I haven't managed to follow what you mean by browsing as an individual.

In case the images do not show up go to. slide Show > Set Up Show > you can then see 3 radio buttons with one of them being browse an an individual.

Well I'm very grateful for both suggestions and tried them both.


The "pointer" didn't display as well as I hoped, and the settings one was more or less what I was using. I did however experiment with every possible combination in the menu without success.


What I have ended up with is using the laser pointer that shows on both screens. I had discarded this before because it didn't show up well on some of my slides. I improved this by using the blue laser option and changing some of the slide colors for a better contrast.


I still don't understand why PP allows the laser to display on both screens,. but not the arrow pointer. Suppose MS must have their reasons...
