Question Customize Animation of several Pics on 1 slide

I have a presentation where I have over 20 slides.

On each slide I have pictures and text box's and lots of smart art items I want to have come into the slide at specific times and then fade out so the next one can come in and then that one go away and keep repeating this.

Some of them I will have come in and stay but many of them I want to have them come in to the slide in time to the narration then go out and another come into the slide in time to the narration... etc.. etc...

I have used Open Office Presentation to do this in the past and GOT IT DOWN with that program, but just can't seem to figure out how to do it in this new PowerPoint 2010!

Oh yea not all will be a fade animation, some will be "wipe" some will be "Grow & Turn" some will be "Random Bars" and so forth. I am sure once I figure out how to do an in and then out again with a single item then I can choose what sort of animation and apply that solution to it.

Please help!!

You have probably seen the Add Animation button on the Animations tab. The piece you may be missing is right next to it... The Animation Pane button allows you to control the order of animations and also set options for each animation. Be sure to watch for the various drop-downs here that allow you to configure your animations.

Select an object, Add Animation.
Use the Animation Pane to set the order and change options for a selected animation.

Yes I have seen the Ad Animation button, and I have been all through it and all the things inside it, ton's and ton's of times!!

The thing I can't find is this...

I can get an item to come in, but if I try to then set an exit for it, that will change the entrance to an exit.

So in other words, setting any exit will delete the entrance or setting any entrance will delete the exit setting, instead of adding a second action.

As I said, I have done this for some time and made TON'S of presentations using the Open Office version of PowerPoint which is called "Presentation". I REALLY know what I am doing in that one, and porobably 98% of it is exactly the same as powerpoint, but I am trying to learn the new PowerPoint 2010.

I just can't seem to find a way to do this.. it's really starting to tick me off, I am better than this and yet I can't find it!!

I have gone through all the help files, and even tried to find a tutorial video on it etc.. and just can't find anything to show how to do just exactly what I want to do.

I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE I HAVE SEE OTHER PEOPLES PRESENTATIONS WHERE IT IS DOING IT AND I KNOW THEY DID IT IN THE POWERPOINT PROGRAM!!

I would stay with Open Office Presentation if it weren't for the fact the new PowerPoint has many features Presentation does not.. (Mainly "Smart Art") but the biggest reason to move to PowerPoint is that I just can't find a program to convert the Presentation format to an AVI, or other video format etc.. and with PowerPoint I can get that done once my presentation is complete.

Lastly, just FYI.

My presentation has a few pages in it which have like 15 - 20 pictures stacked over the top of each other if they were not appearing and then disappearing. If you just left it without the actions then you would only see this stack of pictures with only the one on the top being really visible and able to see it.

I select a picture, click Add Animaiton, choose one in the Entrance category, then click Add Animation and choose one in the Exit category, and this results in both an entrance and an exit, working perfectly.

Try making a new file and test there to make sure the issue isn't with the file you're using.

Default Thank you!!

Kimberly

THANK YOU!! Good suggestion!!

I closed my document, opened a pre-designed template then did some animation things in it testing until I understood what to do and it worked fine, then I opened my document up and it worked just fine in there...

So far it LOOKS to me like you have to set the entrance and exit at the same time, you can't set it to do an entrance then come back later and set an exit. If you do that then you have to remove all animation for that specific item (Picture, text box or etc...) and then reset the entrance and the exit at the same time.

This works for me!!

Thank You!!!

Awesome assistance!!!
