Default Pop-up menu stays on slide

What we have:

- a large presentation (120 slides) with several chapters
- a MENU button top right
- a menu list + a CLOSE button, both outside the visible slide area
When clicking the MENU button, the menu list and CLOSE come down (=line motion animation); when clicking CLOSE, the menu list and CLOSE go back up (= line motion animation).
The items in the menu list are clickable and take you to the chapters.

Our problem:
- When we are e.g. in slide 2 and we click MENU and we follow a menu item hyperlink, that works fine. But when we link back to slide 2, the menu list of course is still open and we would prefer to have it gone at that point.
- We could solve that by inserting a very quick disappearing animation in the beginning of slide 2, and have an appear animation proceeding the line motion >>> but: these animations are only effectuated the first time you visit a slide.
- Another solution would be to insert a blank slide before each slide, make the hyperlinks to the blank slides and add very fast, automatic, 'invisible' transitions to the actual slides so that the animations work every time >>> but: this is a large presentation with a lot of complicated Morph transitions that wouldn't work anymore when adding blank slides.

Anyone have a clue... ?
Thanks!

P.S. How we work in the meantime: we got rid of the CLOSE button and make the menu list go back up automatically after a few seconds (just long enough to read the menu). So when you link back to a slide where the menu was still visible, it disappears automatically within a few seconds.

Hi Judith

What happens if as well as a hyperlink to another slide each menu item also triggers an animation to hide the menu??

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply!

Your suggestion is one of the things I tried yesterday. The effect of it is: you go to the linked slide, and the extra animation triggered with the clicked item happens only when you get back to the first slide. So actually the effect is the same as with the automatic disappearing from the 'P.S.'
