Default Custom guides on every slide?

I can add guidelines to a slide in a specific way, but when I make guides visible on a new slide, they are not my customized guides, is there a way to make it so I can make guides for a slide once and have it carry over to the rest of the presentation?

Have you tried putting the guides on the master or a layout? (I'm not on a Mac right now but I would have thought it was the same as on a PC)
