Reverse animation when reversing through slides

Is there any way to reverse a custom animation when reversing through slides? I am walking through a workflow in powerpoint which animates from step to step. It works perfectly when going forward, but if I even need to go back a step, it just jumps back. Is there anyway to have it reverse smoothly through the animations as well?

I don't see a way for PPT to do this. The only thing I could suggest is that you duplicate your slide and animate your objects in reverse order.

If you use Animations>Custom Animation then you can easily reorder the list of objects. If you're using Wipe effects, you may want to change their direction. Sry.
