Notes pane gone from Presenter mode

Hi

I have a new (2021) mac with Office 365 (most recent for Mac, updated). Now when I use presenter mode, the notes tab is nowhere to be found (making presenter mode totally useless). I just see the current slide and a ribbon of the coming slides at the bottom. I've tried every setting I can find and no luck on google. Thoughts?
