Default How do I do an animation with the bullet points where only one point is visible at a time?

Hello,

Essentially I would like to have an animation where one bullet point appears it disappears and the the next bullet appears and disappears and the next one appears and disappears. In other words, i want only one bullet point to be showing at a time while the other ones are invisible.

How can I do this?

Thank you ton everyone i advance.

You need an entrance and exit animation on each bullet. I do not believe there is a pre-programmed way to do this.
Let's say you have two bullet points. Type them out and set the animation pane to open.
Highlight your first bullet point. Add a typical entrance animation such as appear. While the first bullet point is still highlighted, now pick an exit animation such as disappear. Now highlight the second bullet point and repeat the entrance and exist animation.

When done, the animation pane should show 4 animations. Go to the third animation, which should be the entrance of bullet 2. Change the timing from on click to "with previous. You should see the number of animations change from 1234 to 1223

The general principle is that you chain together the exit of one point with the entrance of the next point.

There is actually a special arrangement for this. You first select the whole text box and select the animation you want (like "Appear"). Then you open the animation pane and click the little arrow on the line that represents your animation for the whole text box. Click "Effect options..." and then go to the "Text Animation" tab. In the "Group text" list select you preferred option (probably "By 1st level paragraphs") and the Ok.
Hope this will help!

Tompen78's suggestion builds a list one paragraph at a time into a full list but does not answer the OPs request that at ANY time ONLY 1 bullet be seen during the animation

However, it does save time in the first step to do it this way. After the entrance and exit animations are set to the text box, move over to the animation pane.
  • Set the animation pane so you can see all the sub-animations (each bullet).
  • Rearrange the order of the sub-animations (this can be done by drag and drop once all the subanimations are visible
  • Set the timing on each exit animation to be WITH PREVIOUS.

I don't have my mac with me but on a PC you can set the After Animation in Effect Options to the background color ( ie not visible)

Yes, in the mac (at least my version) you can hide on next mouse click or hide after animation. It appears applying ON NEXT MOUSE CLICK is the appropriate choice if you have animated the text object.

I stand corrected.
