Video jumpy when playing slide show in ZOOM meeting
Hi, i have created a PowerPoint slide presentation for a family quiz to show in the ZOOM meeting app during lockdown, I am using the 2019 version and have saved the presentation as a .ppt.(also tried saving as a ppsm and a pptm with no luck) All the slides with either text, pictures or MP3 music files work fine but i have video files saved as MPEG which works fine on my computer but everyone else watching on there screens are saying the videos are jumpy but the music plays OK(I have placed the video files into the slides by selecting Insert/Video/ Video on my PC) . I have also placed the videos onto my YouTube account but the videos are still jumpy. All the pictures, MP3 files and MPEG files have all been placed in the same folder as the presentation. i have tried MP4 files but they don't work at all. Can anyone help with how to get the video files to play smoothly. Thanks in advance Last edited by Willows59; 06-06-2020 at 05:45 PM. |

This is most likely a networking latency & bandwidth issue, not a PowerPoint Issue.

Re:
Thanks for the reply, We tried to run ZOOM between 2 laptops in the same premises and I am with Virgin media and have download speeds of 70 Mbps and upload speeds of 35 Mbps so we should not have issues i would have thought with these speeds.

In that case it's network latency that's the issue. Bear in mind that each PC must communicate through their respective ISPs and there is necessarily some delay there.

Paul - Same type of problem. Using Animation on slides to follow block diagrams (highlighted lines and rectangles) Up to 10 per slide and it runs fine locally. Using MS Teams the slide show runs great when demonstrated to one user. With 8-10 attendees connected, in various areas of the US, PowerPoint will freeze for up to 1 minute. Is it a safe to say it is the total latency added up for ALL users causing the issue?

If it's affecting all users at the same point in the presentation, the issue concerns something that's primarily impacting your ISP and/or comms between you and your ISP.
