Default Transparent Slide Background

I want to save slides as a .png and have a transparent background so when I put the image onto my video editing software there is no background to block the layers below. You know, the pngs with the checkerboard background on thumbnails. I just updated to Office 2019. In the older version, I would type my text and whatever, then select all, group, then saveas picture (.png). It worked beautifully. Now I do the same and there is a solid white or black background (black comes up when using white text). I want no background. I looked online for solutions, tried everything I could think of. Did MS remove this wonderful feature that I've used 100s of times and am now not able to function ? How do you make the background of slides transparent ?
