Thanks @Eowyn, I've created a second Master .pptx file which is identical to my basic Master file, except that animations are removed (attached). Now I have two problems.
1) I can't figure out how to insert this second template into my file: I would have thought that "Insert slide master" would give me the option to insert a master slide, but it doesn't.
2) If I succeed in 1), it's not obvious to me how to switch to a second Master for an individual slide.

Would you mind showing me how to do that, using the attachment from my previous post and the current attachment?
