Default How do I close the preview pane in the File windows?

In PowerPoint 2016, whenever I go to File Open, Save, Save As, the window that opens has a left column for places (such as OneDrive or my computer), a middle column with file locations and names, and a right column with what I imagine is a file preview area. This rightmost column is always blank though.

I would love to close it so I could see the entire location and file name that is displayed in the middle column. The file names are now so long that I can't really see them because they show up truncated, and the rightmost column is just in the way.

I've searched online everywhere but I only find references to File Explorer or Outlook. Anyone know how I can close the right pane?

Thanks.

As far I know, the space (column) you refer to isn't a 'preview area', but simply a waste of space.

I have been thinking the same thing, but it seemed very unlikely. You may be right though. If there was a way to get rid of it, I'd be happy.

AFAIK Moonshine is right and there is no way to change the space except maybe changing the XML for backstage which is definitely not a trivial code task.

Thanks both. What a shame. This is one more indication of what happens when there is only one product in the market and customers are forced to take it as is, warts and all.
