Question A pptm file for a Mac that might not have MS Office installed?

Hi everyone.

I made a pptm file. It'll be used for a talk I'll be doing. The computer is a Mac. I don't even know if that computer has MS Office installed. The presentation includes a macro and also an embedded web video.

Just to be on the safe side, is there a format I could convert the file into, so it'll work on a Mac that doesn't have MS Office?

The talk will be in 20 hours so I would really appreciate any prompt suggestions. Sorry to ask just now. I had no idea it was a Mac.

Thank you everyone .

I suggest you find out what presentation software is installed on the Mac. If it has PowerPoint, problem solved. Otherwise, there are applications other than PowerPoint that can work with PowerPoint presentations but they're unlikely to support PowerPoint macros.

Oh boy ! Thank you macropod. I'll try to find out as soon as I can.

Might there be a way to turn it, for example, into a interactive Flash file were the macros and the embedded video still works? I only made this through macros: http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/Animated_Timer2.html

I seriously doubt your macros would even exist, let alone work, in a Flash file.

Well, it just created a succession of textboxes. It even works in .pptx without the need of .pptm. Do you still think it wouldn't work as a Flash file?

I don't really enough about this. It's just a newbies question.

Thanks for all your help.

That's probably because the code is in the underlying PowerPoint template, not the active presentation. Your pptx file wouldn't work on another system without access to the underlying template...

The presentation does NOT need the macro to work once you have run it once - it just creates standard animations (lots of them) It will work on a mac with powerpoint AFAIK. Convert to Flash will depend on how good your conversion software is.

Thank you very much for your help macropod and JohnWilson.

OK, I asked and it turns out that the Mac for the talk doesn't come with MS Office, it just comes with the built-in software. From what I'm reading, every Mac comes with Keynote, Apple's slideshow editor. It should be able to open a pptx file. Do you have any knowledge about this program? Might it alter the countdown timer or the embedded video?

It will run in Keynote but I don't think Keynote will recognise the timings so it will run too fast.

Thanks John. I'm also trying on OneDrive, that might be the solution.
