Devanagari script displaying incorrectly in PP Office 2003

Hello,

In this script, as any Indian would know, the long 'a' is sort of attached to the preceding consonant, sometimes shown on an e-keyboard with a dotted circle in front of it indicating where the consonant would appear. Although it doesn't show in any other Microsoft software that I use, the dotted circle does show in PowerPoint. It's very frustrating. Any suggestions? I've tried Mangal and Sanskrit 2003. I've also tried typing in Word and cut-and-pasting. Still, same outcome.
