Power point auto updated from excel
I run an event where individuals weigh in one after another and these weights are entered into an excel spread sheet. The spreadsheet calculates the top ten. What I want to do is have a monitor/tv display, using power point,the top 10 throughout the weigh-in? I would like it to update regularly as the top ten changes. Is this possible? Currently I have the excel spread sheet linked to a power point presentation but have to restart the PowerPoint presentation constantly to update the links. Can this be done another way? |

I have the powerpoint presentation running continuously in a loop. I show a couple sponsor pages and the top ten page then repeat continuously. I have to stop the presentation and update all the links because the top ten is changing as people weigh in. I am hoping that as i enter the data in excel and excel updates the top ten it would also update the power point presentation without having to restart powerpoint.

You can try this then. (not certain it will work)
Step 1. Insert a command button from the developer toolbox on slide 1. (Show the developer tab in File>Options >Customize ribbon if not already done) In Home > Select > Selection pane set the button to NOT visible. This is needed to make the code run reliably, Step 2 Alt f11 to open the Code editor and INSERT > Module Paste in this code Code:

I did as you said and it worked perfectly. I will test it a bit but so far so good. No idea what you had me do but you definitely know your stuff. Thanks again for your help. |
