Default Updating from Compatibility Mode?

I have an old PowerPoint file which opens in version 10 using compatibility mode. I must have created it earlier than that. Anyway, I need to do edits which require it to be updated. (adding an mp3)

However, when I try to 'save as' Im not given the option of saving to v.10. Is there a way of doing this? Or should I start from scratch?

Assuming it is already an XML format file, just 'save as' with the same name and location.

If you open in communicability mode it probably isn't an XML file BUT you should be able to save as PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx)

Are you sure that option is not there.
