Default Limitations using pdf-files in PowerPoint?

Good day everyone.
I am a designer working on a corporate identity for a client. This client has a rather large amount of icons/illustrations and logos, and IŽd prefer to keep all the design elements as vector due to size, sharpness and the ease of managing the amount of files.

Right now we are developing the PPT-template. And I have been warned by several not to use pdf-files in PowerPoint. To clarify, the files are extremely simple, just clean shapes with fill and or stroke in a single color.

I done some tests on a Mac OS X (10.12.6) saving ppt-files from Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac (15.33). And I have opened the files on:
  • OS X (PowerPoint, QuickLook and Preview)
  • Windows 10 (PowerPoint)
  • iPhone (Apple Mail)
  • PowerPoint Online.

And it works brilliantly in all those places.

What I need to know, is the limitations of using pdf-files in ppt. Is there any documentation or charts showing pdf-features contra software versions and operative systems? What works and what doesn't. Hoping someone might shine a light on this.

Best regards,
Sindre
