Default Keep items hidden

I am creating a game in powerpoint. I have added and exit animation to a button to have it disappear once clicked. Is there a way to have the button remain hidden when returning to the slide?

If by returning to the slide you mean start back at the beginning then NO, I don't think so. This will reset animations. You would have to write code to do this.
