custom font change

I have designed a new font for an Indian language. To test the font, I installed it and it is appearing in the font list. With this, i could type text in the new font. Every thing is fine until i spot a trouble in changing the font of a selected text in powerpoint.
I selected a text. Right clicked to change the existing font of the text to my custom font. Once it is chosen, there is no change in the text font. It appears as it was before. Surprisingly, the font change for the text works in microsoft word and excel.
What could i have missed in powerpoint? I am using MS 0ffice 2007
