Guides on the Master slide - maybe

I am using a template that includes two vertical and four horizontal guides which I am unable to edit. I assumed they must have been added to the Master slide but I can't edit them there either.

How were they added and how can I modify them?

I've attached a screenshot that shows what I mean.

If you cannot drag them in normal view they are probably on the master or one of the custom layouts.

View > Slide Master

If the guides are visible on all the small custom layouts they are likely to be on the large master at the top. Select it and right click on a guide >> Delete

If they only appear on some of the layouts they may need to be deleted there.

Well, those pesky guides appear on all the slides from this particular layout, and opening View>Master slide still does not allow me to edit the guides.

I'm quite sure that I'm just not accessing the correct element. here's what I'm doing:

1. File > New
2. Select a particular custom template
3. Click Create
The uneditable guides are there

4. View > Slide Master
The uneditable guides are STILL there.

What did you mean by the "large master at the top"?

When you open Master View there should be (at least) ONE LARGE master at the top (scroll up maybe) and a series of smaller custom layouts. You probably need the one at the top which you may need to scroll up to.

Yep! Just hadn't scrolled all the way up to find the actual Master slide above the Layouts.
