PowerPoint 2010 here...
I have a presentation that I need to show each month that has links to charts in a single Excel file. I opened the file today and a dialog popped up, as it normally does, asking me if I want to update the charts. Groovy. Let's do it. However, when I began to go through the presentation, it was apparent that none of the links had updated. The first thing I checked was the "Edit links to files" under the File tab. All the links appear to be there and they are all set to automatic. It's all a bit of guesswork with that dialog box since it only shows the file linked to and does not specify which actual object each link is. That's a significant weakness IMHO. So next I went to the first chart, right-clicked and selected Edit Data. This opens the sheet to which the chart in the presentation is linked. The data and the chart in the sheet are all current. So why the heck is my PowerPoint presentation not updating? I have my presentation in two hours. It's not the end of the world as I am just going to delete all the linked files and replace them. It's a PITA though and will leave me pressed for time as I have other things I need to update manually (though not enough that I can't gripe here, apparently. ;-) |
