Linking cells between two embedded Excel objects in a PPT file

I have a PowerPoint presentation which has several embedded Excel spreadsheet objects. I would like to link cells in one of those spreadsheets with another. That is easy enough to do in (and between) regular XLS files. I cannot find a way to do with the embedded objects.

Am I missing something?
