Default Zoom in to transition slides

I attended a conference last year and the speaker had a large picture that looked like a bunch of small tiles. Each one of these tiles was a slide in his presentation. Each new slide he went to PowerPoint zoomed out of the current slide back to the large picture and zoomed right into another that was the new slide. It had the effect of jumping out of one slide and diving into the next one.

Could anyone please explain how this is done?
