Exclamation Local PowerPoint Activation

I am getting an event log (Windows 2008 R2) error local activation not granted to "domain/username" while instantiating PowerPoint 2003 Application object (I knows it's old but it has worked for the last 10 years on Windows 2003) from a simple asp (not aspx) web page. PowerPoint DCOM appears to be properly setup for "domain/username". PowerPoint is installed on the server and can be activated from the start page. I have noted an odd path to PowerPoint 2003 on the DCOM property page which does not appear to point to a valid location. I also see this same path in the registry. Any idea what I might need to do to resolve this issue? .net is not viable at this time.
