Cant assign macro to autoshape
Hey everyone. I am running Powerpoint 2007 on my laptop and when I right click on a shape there is no "assign macro" option. It is just not there. I went into the trust center and enabled all macros and made sure the rest of the settings were ok. I have never seen this before. Any ideas on what I need to click on in order to get the right click menu to show assign macro?
Thanks |

Are you sure you're not getting confused with Excel. I've never seen "Assign Macro" in PowerPoint.

Well that's fairly embarrassing! I did have it confused but I probably would not have gotten confused if the Action Settings button was in the menu like in previous versions. I did some google searching and saw that Actions was in the insert menu. How annoying to have to go there every time. Oh well all fixed now. Thanks for the reply John I appreciate it.

I'm assuming you now have a later version than 2003? If you have at least 2010 you can easily make an AddIn (I think you program) that adds to the right click menu. Only XML is needed.
Code:
<customUIxmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2009/07/customui"> <contextMenus> <contextMenuidMso="ContextMenuShape"> <buttonidMso="ActionInsert"label="Action Settings ..."insertAfterMso="HyperlinkInsertPowerPoint"/> </contextMenu> </contextMenus> </customUI> |

Thanks again John. I have 2007 on a laptop that I use every once in a while. I still prefer to use 2003 for most things. I will look into the XML programming side. It seems to be something I should have learned a long time ago. Do you know of any good documentation out there? Thanks again

2007 does support XML ribbon code but NOT context menus. You need 2010 / 2013 for that.
The best documentation is the book by Martin, Puls & Henig http://www.amazon.co.uk/RibbonX-Cust.../dp/0470191112 It is for 2007 but is worth it's weight in gold (good thing as it isn't cheap) |
