Effect Options greyscaled for PPT 2013 Transitions

Hi,

I have inherited a 2013 presentation that contains transitions. I would like to change and delete some of them, however the Effects Options is greyscaled and I am unable to delete or modify any of the transitions.

Is there a security setting that could be causing this?

Do you mean Transitions or Animations. People often use these terms wrongly.

If you click the Transition Tab and a slide is selected. What transition is highlighted?

Yes I do mean transitions. If I select the transitions tab the transition is showing as none. But I have to click twice to get to my next slide and on the first click I get a black screen.
