Animation Problem When Returning To Slide
Hello,
I am using PowerPoint 2010 (32bit). I have created a presentation which jumps mostly ahead, but sometimes it will jump back to previous slides. My problem is this: I click on a button on my first slide which jumps to my second slide. My second slide fills in 5 separate text fields as an animation (start with previous). This starts as soon as the slide starts and works correct the first time around. I then click say a button on the slide (button1), which generates two buttons (lets call them button2 and 3). Button 2 is generated as a trigger to Button 1 being pushed. Button3 (starts with previous) which is Button 2 in this case. So now we have two buttons (Button2 and Button3 as a result of Button1). If you click Button2, you jump to say slide 4. If you click Button 3, you jump to slide 4. The point is eventually we make it back to slide one to start over again. I click the same button on slide 1 which brings me to slide 2 again. This time the text fields are already filled in, and Button2 and Button3 on the slide already appear. I don't want this to happen. I want the same slide to appear as it did the first time around. Let me know if you can help me resolve this problem. I think it has to do with (start with previous), since all my other animations which operate off of triggers work fine. Thank You, ~Craig |

This is by (bad) design.
MSFT think you will only want to see the animation once. To get arround it insert a blank slide BEFORE the animated slide and set its transition to "after zero seconds" Make any link backwards to this slide. The slide will immediately transition to the desired slide and the animations will play. |

Thank you! That worked perfectly! This is not related to my previous issue, but my slideshow is going to be added to another slideshow. Ever time that happens, the person has to go in and re-setup the hyperlinks because now the first slide may be the 5th slide and so on and so forth. Is there a way to actually name the slides, so that I can hyperlink to specific slide names instead of numbers? If I setup the hyperlink to go to the "named" slide there will be no way for the presentation to get messed up when added to another presentation. I'm not sure this is possible. Thanks again for resolving my original issue.

I was able to figure this one out. Went to outline view and created titles and then hid them so that they weren't displayed since I'm not using the usually titles. Thanks!
