More than 12 colors in a theme?

Does anyone know of a way to assign more than 12 colors to a theme? Or maybe a way to edit the "Standard colors" that appear between the "theme colors" and the "Recent Colors" on the Color Palette drop down menu?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
