Default Issue involving "escape" from full screen (slide show) and re-connecting to projector

Hello,

I googled my issue, and came up with nothing.

When I do a presentation my laptop is connected to a projector and external screen. I do the presentation in "slide show." However, whenever I exit the slide show (by pressing "escape" on my keyboard), I no longer see anything on the big screen (I do see ppt on my laptop) other than a large windows logo. Then I have to re-connect to a projector by pressing "duplicate."

Have any of you come across this issue? I'm using powerpoint 2013.

Thanks in advance.

This was added "by design" in 2013. I hate it but MSFT think it makes things easier!

You can fix it by adding a registry key:

Open regedit
Navigate to:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\Opt ions]

Add a new DWord and name it RestoreTopology

Set the value to 1

If you are not confident to do this download the key and unzip and double click to add it. Our key is of course tested but it is still at your own risk

Thank you for your post. Do you know what the logic is for how this makes things easier? It seems to make absolutely no sense that having us re-connect to the projector is actually easier.

I have a presentation Tuesday so I will see if the key worked.

I didn't say I understood MSFT logic! The key works in our tests.

Hi! Apologies for bumping in old thread. Does it work for Windows 8.1?
