Default Equations converted to graphics and can not be reworked

On the Word 2013 powerpoint presentation that I am working on, my first in Word 2013, I noticed that the equations that I typed in with the formula editor are now converted to graphics and I am not edit them anymore.

This conversion seems to have occured after I saved the presentation and restarted the computer.

1) is there a way to open the presentation so that I can edit the equations again?

2) is there a way to avoid this from happeneing again?

MikeD, how did you save your file? If its similar to 2010, when you save it as a 97-2003 presentation it will convert to an image, whereas if you save it as just a powerpoint presentation it will let you edit when you open the file again.

Your suggestion is correct.

I tried that the other day and it was successful.

It appears that the configuration automatically saved my presentation in the 97-2003 format and did not save in the 2013 format until I specified it.

Thank you for the reply
