Multiple Templates applied to presentation

I created a template and saved as presentation.potx. I then created presentations and applied the template to them. I later realized I needed to add a slide to the template for use across multiple presenations. I opened the presentation.potx file, made the update and saved the file.


I now want to apply the updated template to my presentation. When I apply the new template to the presenation, I noticed under slide layouts both the old layouts and the new layouts exist. How do I get it to only show the new template layouts as options?
