I am using Powerpoint 2011 on Mac system 10.9.3 (Mavericks). I embedded the audio files (aif), saved it and they work fine. However, if I close the powerpoint file and then re-open it, the embedded audio won't play. I have tried this several times, embedding the files using the insert command and they play perfectly but as soon as I quit the application and re-open it, the audio won't play. This powerpoint presentation is an older one from 2004 created originally from the 2004 version of powerpoint. I opened it in Powerpoint 2011 made some changes and added the sound files. Could this be the problem?

The original file was created in Powerpoint 2004 and is a .ppt file. I need to convert the file to a .pptx file. So how do I do this in Mac?

I just used the "save as" command and chose .pptx as the format and all my probems were solved although I had to re-embed the audio files.

my problem is that a sound file i recorded using the "insert" tab will not start automatically when the slide opens even though I have it set to do so in the pop up menu. worked the first time i tried it but never again since.
