Default Manipulating 3D objects in Powerpoint 2013

Hi all,

I've been learning to make nice 3D figures in PPT. It seems like you can quickly make decent looking things, but the interface is also just incredibly clunky and pretty confusing.

One of the most confusing parts for me is the 3D rotation -- what the hell are the axes it rotates around? It seems to change axes as it moves around, which is incredibly confusing.

Another confusing thing is the layers and grouping. Sometimes when I ungroup a set of objects, one of the objects totally changes shape/orientation. Why is this happening??

Thanks!
