Default Slide thumbnails

Is there a way to have the slide thumbnails visible all the time? right now, whenever I open a presentation I have to either select the Normal view or drag that left pane to the right to have the slide thumbnails visible.

Like in the picture below--I need a way to get rid of the Thumbnails text on the left and always have the little slides visible automatically, without pressing any buttons.

I'm looking at 2010 at the moment but I guess 2013 is similar.
In File > Options > Advanced there a setting Open presentations in this view

Set it to Normal Thumbs, notes and slides
