changing the spread sheet location on embeded pie chart

I have embedded a pie chart using the standard selections. I can edit the spread sheet but this is in C:\libraries\documents. I would like it in the same folder as my PPT. I did a save as but next time I edit the data it is still looking in the same place. I need to change the data source to D:\powerpoint presentation\mydata.xlsx

Is there a good reason not to insert the pie chart WITHIN PowerPoint using INSERT > Chart??

Assuming you do need to use Excel you need to explain, step by step, what you think the "standard selections" are. There are several ways to do this with different results.
