Default Can i create a template that formats existing PPT?

Ok so i have searched for this topic and cant find anything. Here is the problem we are running into and maybe someone has some input:

I work at a medical school and we have speakers fly in from all over the country to give presentations. We provide a course notebook to all of our participants with the speaker's ppt presentations.

The problem that arises is that even though we have a written policy on how to create your ppt with certain backgrounds, font , font size etc it never fails that they do not listen and we have to manually go in and alter each slide presentation so that it can be seen both on the classroom screens and printed in grayscale in the course notebook.

Is there a way to create a "template" or "profile" that I could import the presentations into and it would auto format certain items for me to make sure all presentations are formatted the same (ie. change background, font, etc). Or is it inevitable that i am doomed to be altering individual ppt slide for the rest of my days?

Thank you!

I'm presuming the speakers do not correctly use a master. If they did you could just apply your template.

If not a macro could probably replicate what you do manually but in seconds.

Are you au fait with macros?

can you describe the usual steps you take to fix presentations.

eg

I set the bacground to solid and rgb (127,127,127)
I change all fonts to calibri

etc
