Aspect Ratio problem
Hi! I'm having trouble locking the aspect ratio in PowerPoint. I'd like to insert an image as a background, but I keep getting a distorted picture. So, I've found a workaround. Below are the steps I took to make it work. And below that, the questions I have about doing it the "right" way. Thanks in advance!
Home menu in Ribbon>Insert>Photo from File>Select photo>Insert>Right Click>Format Picture>Size>(Lock aspect ratio and Relative to original picture size don’t seem to have any effect on the image, but Shift/Command/drag DOES lock the aspect ratio.)>Format Picture on the Ribbon Menu>Crop>select area to crop>Hit Crop again>Adjust transparency>Home on the Ribbon>Change Layout as necessary (if you need a subtitle or columns of text)>Add text. 1) Any idea why checking the boxes for Lock Aspect Ratio and Relative to Original Picture Size don't have the desired effect? (In fact, they have no effect at all.) 2) Is there an easier way to crop the picture to the exact size of the slide? (Clearly, if I could figure out how to use the Insert Background function properly, this problem would be resolved, which brings me to my two questions about Backgrounds.) 1) Why can't I do something similar with the Insert Background function? (If I could get this to work, I could skip the cropping phase, but when I do this, the background always gets distorted.) 2) I also can't adjust the background transparency by right clicking>Format Background>Transparency. I'm doing all the steps that look like they should work, but they have no effect. Hmmm…. Cheers! |
