Animation and Powerpoint?

Hi there,

First post. I need to animate aircraft flying on a powerpoint presentation. I need to teach positioning of multiple aircraft working on fires. Would this be possible with powerpoint? The animation controls are a little clunky. I'm looking for a top down view as if you were looking down on a fire from 10,000' and seeing the little aircraft maneuver around.

Maybe there is a better program? Any hints or tips with powerpoint? Right now, I'm having a hard time with orientation of the aircraft as they turn.
