Default PowerPoint 2002 No Sound Icon

I am editing a PowerPoint 2002 presentation that has music but there is no sound icon.
I have been told that when sound is embedded there is no icon.

The slide timings have now been set and the presentation to run in Kiosk mode, this all works great, except the music stops 4 slides from the end.
I know there is a setting in the sound icon to prevent this from happening.
Is there anyway to show the sound icon or to correct the problem.

I would appreciate any advise.

The sound may be added to the transition of the first slide. I no longer have 2002 but if you look at the transition there should be a "sound" box. It will stop possibly it is just too short! or 4 slides from the end the slide transition may have a "stop sound" setting. Otherwise the sound icon may be hidden behing something or way off slide, it would show in the animation pane in this case.

JohnWilson,
Thanks for the info.
When I check the transition, there is a Sound combo box, the sound is listed here but no way to set loop etc.

At present on the slide the music stops I list the sound file to play from that slide on.

Is there any other way to stretch the original sound.

Transition sounds play across slides by default but AFAIK they cannot be made to loop. The only possibility is to use a free sound editor like Audacity and add some sound to make the original longer.

To recover the sound if you don't have the original try saving Type = Html Web Page. You should get a folder with all dependant files (including the wav file)

You could then insert it "normally" and set it to stop after 999 slides and repeat.

JohnWilson,
Thanks for the info.
I saved in HTML and obtained the sound file.

I inserted the sound file set it to stop after 999 slides.
For the transition on the first slide I had to select "No Sound" as the embedded sound and the one I inserted clashed.

When playing the slideshow, the music stopped about 4 slides from the end, to fix this I selected the sound icon and selected "Edit sound object" and placed a tick in "Loop until Stopped".

Now all is working OK.

One last question, is there any way to remove the original embedded sound?

If you set the transition to "No Sound" just save and then close / reopen should lose it.
