I have a problem with advancing slides "on mouse click". (PPT 2007)
I want the slide to have an animation when the viewer clicks forward to the next slide. But what happens is that the viewer clicks, the animation is working, and then it "waits" for another click to go to the next slide.



I want this to be automatically after the animation, like it used to be PPT 2003. I can't possibly time when the user will want to go to the next slide so timing it is not an option.

Is there a way that I don't know of?

You don't want to have the user click - and you don't know how long the user will want to look at the slide, so don't want to use a timer?

Ummmmm - how then are you going to choose when the next slide should be shown???

Unless you have an event to trigger the next slide - frankly it's impossible (for a few more years anyway ... until they add mind reading to Office - LOL!)

Basically you have three choices to move to the next slide:

1. user clicks
2. timer action takes place
3. action button on slide is clicked (only one real difference from option one - this allows the user to understand that there is no timer and they must trigger the event!)

On the Slide Show tab there is an option about rehearse timings - but again, this uses a timing approach.
Even all the VBA Options will lead to a timing of the move!

I get what you're saying but I don't get microsoft - isn't the "exit" 's animation whole point is exiting to the next slide?

In PPT2003 it works perfectly fine.
So what's the deal with the 2007 one?
It's ought to be a bug imo. It just doesn't make sense to click the mouse again to forward...

I attached a ppt file (saved to fit 2003) so you'll see exactly what I mean.

And just for general knowledge, can I have both 2007 and 2003 installed on my system? seems I'm gonna need it just for this little matter.

Yes, it is indeed possible, though they don't always play nicely! Go here for info on how to get them working happily together.
