Default stop white frame at end of animated slide

Have a slide with 8 photos. Fade in and out one at a time and then repeat. Small problem is that when #8 fades out there is an ~2 second delay before animation starts again and it's a white screen. In a dark room this is somewhat annoying. Is there a way to go from photo #8 back to photo #1 without the white/blank screen? (Black screen would even be better)

tnx,

W.

Since being somewhat new to PPT, I followed these instructions. Used Custom Animation and set the first photo to exit fade and "start WITH previous" and then set timing delay to 8 seconds with Medium speed. The rest of the slides I also set to exit fade but "start AFTER previous" with same timing. (they all have a red star besides them and all photos are same size)

Any suggestion or reading material would be most helpful,

W.

Yes but that won't make the series repeat. Do you have the slide set to auto transition and loop or are you trying something else?

Sorry. I ticked "Loop cont. until esc" under setup show.
I only have one slide set up to test/train on with these 8 photos. What I'd like to do is incorp this into a PPT with several slides. IOW- this would be the first slide and act as a segue into the main presentation and would run as long as needed.

Tnx,

OK two things then:
First you will have to create a custom show for the first slide and another for the rest of the slides. Otherwise the whole show will loop not just the first slide.

There's more on this on our site
http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/PowerPoint_Loop_Intro.html

To avoid the blank time as the first picture fades in you will have to make a more complex animation. This is a little difficult to explain!
A Top image Fades OUT 8secs
B Half way through this next image fades IN (With previous / delay 4 secs)
C This finishes at 12 secs This image fades out with previous delay 12 secs
D Half way through this fade OUT at 16secs next image fade in etc
E End with the first image fade back in

Have a look at this simple demo to understand more

Thanks for the tips. Did look at your demo and noticed that you have the same photo fading in and then out. Mine does ok except for the last photo is where I get the white screen for ~ 2 seconds. Like yours, thanks.

Will work on the first part later today/tomorrow 'adding' slide to PPT.
This is something I don't need now so I'd better get back to work.

Much tnx,

W.

Yes, it works with just After Previous but the cross fades are "jumpier" (Well to my eyes)

It is jumpier, tnx for the lesson.
Looked at setting up 2 custom shows 1 slide(1) and 18 slides(2) and seem to have it working ok on my system using Action Button to advance from slide 1(custom show 1) to CS2. Will load on laptop which is hooked up to a projector and see if the wireless pointer/presenter will work. I'm guessing it should...

thanks much,

Should do thogh I think you will need a mouse type action to point at the button on the screen.

I would also add an end show button on the last slide to avoid the whole show looping.

Will check it out. I can always use the mouse to go into CS2 and then the pointer.
I'll put an end show button on last slide but since I'm using 'click' to advance, I'll just let it sit on the final slide.

Thanks for all your help. I'm sure "I'll be back" with more questions as time goes on.

W.

Do have another question.
Had some time so put together a custom show with 8 photos. Trying to figure out timing is a real pain. I got the sequence of slides in order (red1, green2, red2, green3-etc.--green1) but the timing is driving me nuts.
Is there a way to view a timing bar or what is the trick unless you have to write down the delay for each slide?
