Default Video time delays

I have created a presentation which contains a series of short video files. My problem is that, when I run the show, there is a massive time delay before each video starts (I have automatic running set for each).
Is there anyway I can counteract these delays? Unfortunately, I will not have internet access when I deliver the presentation so have had to embed each video file.
Many thanks in anticipation.
