Default Text typed on slide x ports to slide y automatically?

I have a 80 odd slide presentation that gets built with new content each week; a fair bit of that content is duplicated throughout the presentation and always in exactly the same places. This content is text, pictures and background images.

Is there any way to link text boxes etc so that anything I put in that text box on slide x automatically populates into the text box on slide y? Same for background images (when I change the background image on slide x, the background image for slide y also changes)?

Not as such but if you create a master layout for just those slides you could change the text / image on the master.

If this isn't what you want then you will need a coder to create an Addin to do exactly what you need. Wouldn't be very difficult probably.

Haven't used master layouts at all, will have to have a play. Is it possible to have a master layout for just specific slides and have multiple master layouts?

Yes you can create a custom layout and use it only for selected slides.

Probably easiest way is to go to View >> Slide Master
Right click on the layout nearest to what you need and choose Duplicate Layout.

On the new layout add the picture and text

Select the slides in normal view to use it (CTRL click) and apply the layout from
Home > Slides > Layout drop down

Ok, I've got the background images porting automatically to the slides they need to (pretty easy), but I'm having difficulty with the text boxes. On some Master Slides the text I copy in there isn't coming through to the Normal View but one is so I've just duplicated that Master Slide. Thing is though that while I can see the text in Normal View, it disappears when I go to Slideshow mode. Any thoughts on what is happening here?

Never mind, I got it sorted. For those having the same problem, I was copying text into the *placeholders*, what I needed to do was go to Insert->Text Box while in Master Slides and put my text in there.
