Default Audio problem thats driving me crazy

Hello all,

I can't find where anyone has had this particular problem. I'm sure it's something simple I am doing wrong.

I have a slideshow that I want to add a wav file to at the beginning to play throughout.

The wav is 27mb and I have increased the size allowed to 50mb. The wav file plays fine in wmp but when I put it in the powerpoint it will not play. I cannot get the preview to work at all.

When I click on Sound Options it says the file is "contained in the presentation" but I dont think it is actually embedding it.

The wav is 27mb but the total file size of the pptx is only 21.8mb. Why won't it embed it?

Using Office 2007.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Sounds odd (no pun intended)

Was the file 21 MB before you tried to embed the audio?

If it says it's embedded I've never seen a case where it wasn't though I have seen wavs that didn't play.

If you can use www.yousendit.com to send a copy I can take a quick look. Won't cost you anything for a few minutes look but may (not without asking of course!!) if it needs studio time to fix the wav file.

Thanks!!

I will send it. I removed the audio and save the pptx again and it is only 2.3mb I thought it was more than that.

So it is apparently embedding the file but it just won't play the audio.

I can tell you it was an mp3 that I ran through cdex to add the wav header to it.

I will send it to you on yousendit. Thanks again for looking at it.

Can I post the link to the file here? Maybe someone else has an idea?

Of course it's your link!

What I see is the file is embedded and it does play but because of its size it takes quite a while to load into memory and then play (maybe 15 seconds)

You might want to split the sound file into separate files for each slide and add them as transition sounds.

Ah!! I'm not waiting long enough for it to start. I was waiting 5-8 secs and then ready to throw the computer in the lake. lol.

Waiting several mins on mine and it still won't play. Frustrating.

The ultimate goal was to play these on my ipad. Don't see that being as easy as it sounds.

Strange it does definitely play here but after maybe 15 seconds. Transfering to an iPad may not be simple!

I really appreciate your help. I'm just going to have to keep messing with it. Maybe see if I can get the file size down some more.

OK! That is perfect!! Now how did you do that? It plays perfectly!

I don't see the little speaker icon where you added the sound.

You don't see the icon when you add the sound to a transition.

First you need to split the sound (original mp3 is best) into files for each slide (using an audio editor) or maybe just re record each slides narration.
Then Cdex each one
Then in 2007 Animation Tab >> Transitions > Where it says "No Sound" choose "Other sound"

Bit painstaking but it will work much better.
