Default PPT 2008 - custom timing for fade animtion?

Hello, I'm using PPT 2008 on a Mac, and I would like to set the timing of a fade entrance animation (in Custom Animation, not Slide Transition) to something other that the options provided in the pop up menu. The slowest setting offered is "Very Fast", .5 second, which is too slow. The funny thing is, I did it before some time ago, as some of my objects have settings of .25 sec., but I can't find it now. Maybe I was in the previous version then... I hope not. Does anyone know how to enter your own custom timing for a fade entrance in PPT 2008? Thank you in advance!

there is an option when you click the animation in the animation pane that says timing, just write the seconds you want in the speed option.

Hi piper7971. Thank you for your reply. In Powerpoint 2008, I don't see a speed option under timing.I'm attaching a screen shot of my animation panel so you can see what options I have. Still, it's good to know that in Office 2007, which you have, that the option is there, because it may be 2008 is supposed to have it, too. It may be be that my installation got corrupted or something. That would explain how I've been able to do it in the past, but can't anymore. Thank you again

Hmm... it works for me. I'm in Firefox. Do you have Firefox? I know IE has all kinds of troubles. Oh well, don't go crazy if it's a pain. I appreciate your help, but I don't want to be a bother. (I just tried to use an IMG tag to force it to show the preview large, but it didn't work.) If you want, you can click this direct link or open a new browser window and paste this in the address bar, and it will show you the full size one:

Yeah, same thing for me. Is it just not permitted in 2008??
(That would suck.)

I know, so frustrating, but I'm sorry to report... it's a Mac thing. The Mac versions of PPT are missing some features, and that's one of them. However, if you set your timings on a PC, they will carry over and play back correctly on the Mac, you just can't set them from Mac. (Another thing missing on Mac is path animation. *sigh*)
