Default Lost File - HELP!!!

Hello,

Would greatly appreciate help in locating a lost PPT file.

The file was done about two months ago, and I wanted to use it today.

I opened PPT, and saw the file on "Recent Presentations". When I tried to open however, I get the following message: The path or filename in invalid.

I have looked everywhere, but cannot find the file. I am not sure if I deleted it, renamed it, accidentally changed the contents then saved it under another name or moved it to another location.

Recent Presentations says the file was on my Desktop, but obviously it is not there anymore.

What can I do to get the file back?

I am on Windows 7. I tried going back to a previous version of my Desktop, but for some reason it only goes back to 18 Feb 2012 and the file was done before that.

Really appreciate any help as I need to meet a big deadline at work...

Thanks in advance.

Vibin

Yes I did on both counts.

I generally empty my Recycle Bin every few days. I have not used the file that I am looking for since some time in Feb, so if I had indeed accidentally deleted it, its long gone from the Recycle Bin too...

And since I know the exact name of the file that it was (from Recent Presentations) I did a search, but nothing...

Ok I think I know what happened.

I created the file on 6 Feb.

On 9 Feb I accidentally saved it in another name, and changed the content.

I now want to get back the 6 Feb version.

On Explorer I tried right clicking on the 9 Feb file and chose "Restore previous versions" but it says "There are no previous versions available".

Please help...

Have you tried running any file recovery software. This would at least tell you if the file is in the cache to be deleted.

Also when you search for the file try using the date modified box and be sure to search ALL drives including any flash drives you may have used.
